On April 23, 2024, Turkey joined the list of countries offering special conditions for remote workers. Previously, one could stay in the country with a regular tourist residence permit, and the process of obtaining it was relatively easy. However, the Turkish government gradually changed its immigration policy. Over the past few years, additional restrictions have been introduced for foreigners, and the approval rate for residence permits has sharply decreased. Additionally, more than 100,000 previously issued residence permits were canceled.

The state decided to separate working digital nomads from tourists and create favorable conditions in terms of visa simplicity and tax conditions for outsourcing specialists.

$3,000 a month
The minimum threshold of income to obtain a visa nomad in Turkey is $3000 per month. By doing so, the state aims to attract additional money into the economy, which is much needed after the sharp depreciation of the Turkish lira.

According to the statement of the Turkish government, citizens of 32 countries can benefit from the program:

  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Hungary
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Denmark
  • Ireland
  • Iceland
  • Spain
  • Italy
  • Canada
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Liechtenstein
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Netherlands
  • Norway

  • Portugal
  • Russia
  • Romania
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • USA
  • Ukraine
  • Finland
  • France
  • Croatia
  • Switzerland

  • Estonia

Applications for a visa can be submitted through the Turkish government’s platform: digitalnomads.goturkiye.com
