The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has adopted a resolution approving the regulation on the procedure for awarding Digital nomad status to foreign citizens. The decision, signed by Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev, establishes a permanent mechanism for granting the status, replacing the previously existing pilot project. Resolution No. 241 was signed on April 30, 2025 and will enter into force 15 days after its official publication.
The status registration procedure includes an initial assignment for 60 days, followed by a 1-year extension and the possibility of an annual extension for up to 10 years. Citizens of countries with a visa regime must additionally apply for a “DN” type visa. The authorized body reviews the application within 7 working days from the date of submission of the full package of documents.
The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic is responsible for the implementation of the program, and the Tax Service will keep records of foreigners with the status of a digital nomad registered as sole proprietors.
The resolution defines the key conditions of the procedure:
- The deadline for reviewing applications has been reduced to 7 working days, subject to a full package of documents;
- The PIN (personal identification number) is issued automatically through the AMT “ZHAAK” system without personal visits to government agencies;
- The validity period of the status: the first stage is 60 days, followed by an extension of up to 1 year with the possibility of annual renewal for 10 years;
- Tax accounting of digital nomads registered as sole proprietors will be conducted by a separate registry (STS order No. 345-P dated 03/12/2025).
Requirements for applicants
The program is available to citizens of 61 countries, including:
- Visa–free regime: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus (maximum stay is 60 days).
- Visa regime: USA, Germany, Japan (requires a DN type visa).
As of May 2025, there are no restrictions on the minimum income for obtaining Digital Nomad status in Kyrgyzstan. However, according to Resolution No. 241, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on April 30, 2025, in the future there may be requirements for applicants, for example, that they must be independent business owners or self-employed, as well as have an annual income above the subsistence level in Kyrgyzstan.
