From 11/21/2025, it will be possible to apply for a digital nomad visa in Slovenia. The decision was made within the framework of amendments to the Law on Foreigners and is aimed at attracting qualified specialists in the field of IT and remote services. The visa market for digital nomads is growing rapidly. According to Fortune, in 2024, more than 40 countries around the world offer special programs for remote workers.
Financial requirements and statistics
The Slovenian authorities have set specific income requirements for applicants. However, it is possible that they will be reviewed before the program is launched. The minimum income should be 3,297 €/month, which is twice the average net salary in the country. For comparison, the average salary in the country is 2,427€ gross (1,450€ net), and the minimum is 1,203€. The following conditions are also defined.

Advantages for nomads
The Republic provides comfortable opportunities for remote work. The Internet speed in the country is about 121 Mbps (this significantly exceeds the requirements of most online professions). The country has a convenient geographical location – the capital of the country is a few hours drive from Vienna and Zagreb.
Program features and limitations
The visa is valid for strictly one year without the possibility of extension. You can re-apply only six months after the end of the previous permit. Visa holders cannot work for Slovenian organizations – only for foreign employers or clients.
Applications are accepted at Slovenian diplomatic missions or online. The review process takes several weeks. Standard documents are required: proof of income, medical insurance, rental agreement, certificate of non-criminal record. The exact list of documents will be announced later.
